Can I be charged with a sex crime even without having sexual intercourse?

Yes. There are many offenses in which sexual intercourse is not necessary in order to be charged with a sex crime. While some sex crimes such as rape involve sexual intercourse, oral sex or anal sex, other sexual offenses do not include any of those actions.

For example, sexual abuse involves a person making intentional contact with someone else’s intimate parts for sexual gratification without necessarily engaging in sexual intercourse. There are also online sex crimes that may not include sexual intercourse, such as possession of child pornography or internet solicitation.
