Rapper Kodak Black faces drug and weapons charges after border arrest
Criminal Defense
Rapper Kodak Black was recently arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and marijuana while attempting to enter the United States from Canada close to Niagara Falls. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and unlawful possession of marijuana. His two passengers also face weapons charges.
Law enforcement officials said Black was driving the two passengers in a Cadillac Escalade. They were crossing the Lewiston-Queenston International Bridge on April 17.
It was unclear where the men were going. However, they admitted to border agents that they possessed marijuana and firearms. New York state police officers who arrived at the scene found a Glock 9mm handgun in the SUV. Black also had marijuana in his possession.
After his New York arrest on drug and weapons charges, Black was arrested ahead of the Rolling Loud Music Festival in South Florida on May 11. He was accused of using a falsified statement when trying to purchase a firearm from a licensed dealer. The 21-year-old rapper’s lawyer said he mistakenly failed to disclose on the documentation that he was under indictment.
