Brooklyn stepdad gets 150 years in prison for abusing and raping daughters
Criminal Defense
A jury in Queens, New York convicted a stepfather for abusing and raping his two stepdaughters for a decade. Court documents indicated he fathered eight children with them.
Lorenzo Arline, 43, was sentenced to 150 years in prison on multiple rape charges. He was convicted on six counts of first-degree rape and one count of second-degree rape.
Arline repeatedly beat and raped his stepdaughters between 2005 and 2008 when they were just 12 and 14 years of age. He forced the girls to sleep naked with him in bed and threatened to hurt them if they did not comply.
The sexual abuse began after Arline married the girls’ mother and moved the family from Florida to New York. The move occurred under a year after he had served a nine-year prison sentence for manslaughter in Florida. Prosecutors said the mother suffered a stroke and was hospitalized for nearly a year. The stepfather then started abusing the daughters, taking advantage of her incapacity.
The abuse continued until Arline hit his eldest stepdaughter so hard that she broke her tooth at age 24. She reported the decade-long abuse and rape to an official at her child’s school, who then informed police.
The eldest stepdaughter also testified in court that Arline had gotten her younger sister addicted to drugs. Arline was found guilty after he failed to prove his stepdaughters’ consent to the jurors despite their mother testifying on his behalf that she did not witness any of the offenses.
