New York man arrested for DWI after death of friend

Many parents in New York and across the country have likely taught their children that they should never ride in a vehicle with a driver who has consumed alcohol. Unfortunately, a young woman who tried to follow this rule tragically ended up dead. The driver of the vehicle that killed her was arrested for DWI and is facing criminal charges.

The 21-year-old girl had allegedly gotten into the vehicle with the 23-year-old male driver. However, upon realizing that he may be drunk, she got out of the vehicle. According to reports, the man pulled the car over to the side of the road to talk to the young girl, and the vehicle struck her. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

This man is facing DWI charges and, although this is a tragic time for the young woman and her family, this is also a scary time for the young man, who has lost his friend and been charged with a crime. In a situation like this society will often look down upon the alleged drunk driver, and they will face a lot of negative stigma. Nonetheless, no one knows the whole story, except those that were involved in the accident, and it is important for drivers facing a potential conviction for drunk driving to understand that they are entitled to a defense of their case.

The consequences for a drunk driving conviction in New York can be very severe as is the case in all states across the United States. Some of these consequences may include a lost driver’s license, loss of your vehicle, monetary fines and time spent in jail. A strong defense can minimize these and other consequences that may result after a driver is accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
