Brill Legal Group Has Been Featured In The Media
A History of Providing Exceptional Legal Service
For more than 20 years, the attorneys of the Brill Legal Group have provided sophisticated and effective guidance to individuals and organizations facing prosecution. With four offices, our firm serves clients throughout the New York area in Suffolk County, Nassau County, Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan.
We understand how the justice systems of Long Island and New York City operate. From our years of working in criminal defense, we have come to know the area’s regulators, investigators, police, prosecutors and judges. Our firm has developed a reputation for trustworthiness and respect that prioritizes the best interests of our clients. The attorneys at our firm understand what is at stake for our clients, and we have the proven capacity to shield those accused from the worst consequences of the criminal justice system.
Our primary criminal defense attorney, Peter Brill, is a former assistant district attorney who knows the law inside and out. His understanding of how prosecutors think and operate gives him a distinct advantage when entering the courtroom or sitting down at the bargaining table. He is supported by the Brill Legal Group’s team of highly experienced criminal law attorneys who have tried hundreds of cases. These accomplished lawyers bring a collective wealth of knowledge and experience that is second to none on Long Island or the Five Boroughs.
New York Conspiracy Defense Attorney
In federal court, conspiracy can be charged whenever a prosecutor alleges that two or more people worked together to do something that would amount to a federal offense. Even if the alleged conspirators never actually carried out their plan, conspiracy can be charged if one of them does any act designed to further the conspiracy.
Even in cases where only one individual is arrested and prosecuted, the Government can charge a conspiracy (18 U.S.C. 371), and never have to prove who the other conspirators actually were.
If you are under investigation or have already been charged with conspiracy, you need a lawyer who understands the complexities of New York conspiracy law. At the Brill Legal Group, we vigorously defend clients against conspiracy charges and the underlying criminal charges. We have a track record of success in these cases, and we are ready to put our experience and reputation to work for you.
Our New York conspiracy attorneys know what it takes to be successful in conspiracy cases. We can help you understand what penalties you are facing, and we will work diligently to have your case dismissed or your charges reduced. In New York, there are many degrees of conspiracy charges under Penal Law article 105, each with its own punishment. The possibilities range from a Class B misdemeanor and three months in jail, to a Class A felony, which could mean life in prison with no possibility of parole.
Effective criminal defense representation can mean the difference between serving a lengthy prison term and perhaps avoiding jail altogether. We approach each conspiracy case aggressively from the start, uncovering facts and developing strategies for our clients. We are committed to preserving the rights and freedoms of those who face allegations of criminal activity.
Most people are surprised to learn that conspiracy charges carry significantly higher penalties than the underlying charges. For example, in many drug cases there are charges for distribution of narcotics (under 21 U.S.C 841) and separate charges for conspiracy to distribute narcotics. The conspiracy charge may carry penalties that are twice as severe as the actual distribution charge.
When you hire our law firm, we will immediately get to work constructing the best possible defense, tailored to the facts of your specific situation. We understand the serious nature of these charges, and we do everything we can to vindicate your rights.
