New York teacher charged with possession of child pornography

A New York educator was arrested on multiple child pornography charges after the culmination of a lengthy investigation. The alleged victim was identified as a minor under the age of 16 who lived in Greenwich, Connecticut.

John Mueser, 69, was charged with possession of child pornography in the first degree, sexual assault in the fourth degree, voyeurism and risk of injury to a minor. He was arrested on an extraditable warrant at his home in Tuckahoe, New York, and transported to police headquarters in Greenwich.

Greenwich Police said he was arrested after an “extensive investigation” that started in October 2019. They recovered thousands of photos among other digital evidence. Mueser was an educator at Riverdale Country School in Bronx. School officials said he was immediately placed on leave once police notified them about the investigation.

Dominic A.A. Randolph, the school head, said in a statement that there were no prior complaints about Mueser’s behavior or interactions with students on campus. Additionally, nothing concerning had come up in his personnel files and background checks over the years.
