Lindsay Lohan’s mother pleads not guilty to DWI on Long Island

Dina Lohan, the mother of actress Lindsay Lohan, pleaded not guilty to a felony driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge. She was arrested for alleged drunk driving and leaving the scene of a car accident on Long Island, New York.

Lohan, 57, was driving a Mercedes that struck the rear end of a Honda CRV. According to the complaint, she drove off without stopping to provide her personal information to the Honda driver, who called 911 and followed Lohan to her home.

Lohan was arrested after declining to take a breathalyzer test. A police officer described her eyes as “glassy and bloodshot” and claimed he smelled alcohol on her breath. The complaint said she allegedly told officers she drank one glass of wine prior to getting behind the wheel.

Along with the DWI charge, Lohan was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle as her car had an expired registration. She also had an open suspension from July 2019 for failing to pay New York State taxes.

Under New York law, a person arrested for suspected drunk driving is required to take a breathalyzer to measure blood alcohol content. Refusing to take the breath test can have serious consequences, such as fines and a loss of driving privileges in addition to the original DWI charge.
