New York man admits to filming minors and transporting child pornography

A 48-year-old man admitted to hiding a camera inside his upstate New York home to capture videos of children. He then uploaded graphic images and videos of child pornography from a cellphone to an email account.

State police arrested John Salisbury in December 2017. He pleaded guilty to a single count of transportation of child pornography and four counts of sexual exploitation of a child. He admitted to using a hidden camera inside his bathroom four times from October 2016 to February 2017 to produce sexually explicit recordings of minors.

The 48-year-old New Yorker may face a prison sentence of between 15 to 30 years for each sexual exploitation count. The transportation charge could result in a five to 20 year sentence. Along with mandatory sex offender registration, Salisbury may face five years to lifetime supervised release.

Transportation of child pornography charges are quite serious and tend to carry a harsher penalty than possession charges. If you are facing such charges, it is essential to seek immediate legal representation.

In this particular case, the transportation of child pornography charge was related to email. However, in legal terms the charge applies to several different activities that range from physically sending images via mail to using electronic communications, such as text message or email.

If you are facing transportation of child pornography allegations, you need a smart, aggressive defense. At Brill Legal Group, our legal team has the knowledge required to protect your reputation and freedom.
