Brill Legal Group client acquitted of multiple sexual abuse charges

Brill Legal Group is pleased to announce that the law firm recently obtained an acquittal for a client who was facing 32 felony charges for engaging in sexual acts with a teenager on at least five occasions and recording the encounters.

A Bronx Supreme Court jury found the firm’s client, a former NYPD officer, not guilty of having sex with a minor. Raul Olmeda, 41, was also acquitted of felony rape, using a child in a sexual performance and child endangerment.

Olmeda was accused of having multiple sexual encounters with a 15-year-old prostitute from January 2017 to April 2017. He had pleaded not guilty to the sexual abuse charges.

Prosecutors were building their case against Olmeda based on a collection of images and recordings. Attorney Peter Brill was able to secure his client’s acquittal for the most serious charges. The former NYPD police officer was instead convicted of just two misdemeanor offenses and acquitted of the multiple felony charges. The jury found Olmeda guilty of witness tampering for urging the teenager to refrain from testifying in court and official misconduct for accessing NYPD computers to find out what evidence there was against him.

No matter the seriousness of the charges you are facing, having the right legal representation can make all the difference between staying out of prison or facing decades behind bars. Brill Legal Group understands the seriousness of sexual abuse charges and will do whatever it takes to build a strong, intelligent defense for our clients.
