AN OFF-DUTY narcotics detective shot a gunman in the stomach early yesterday after the shooter wildly sprayed a Bronx street with bullets, cops said.
"I'm okay," quick-draw cop Pedro Lopez told the Daily News yesterday, hours after his ordeal. "It was very scary."
The shootout unfolded shortly after midnight when the 10-year NYPD veteran pulled up in his silver BMW with two pals to pick up a date on Clinton Ave.
Mike Robinson, 20, strolled up to Lopez's silver BMW and asked what he was doing in the Crotona Park neighborhood, a known drug haven, police said.
"I said I was waiting but he didn't believe me and started shooting," Lopez later told his date, Keila Rivera, 22.
Robinson fired "at least six shots, and fired one into the car that the officer was sitting in," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.
Lopez identified himself as a cop, and pumped off six shots with his authorized off-duty 9-mm. Kahr, hitting Robinson once in the stomach.
Robinson was still pointing his 9-mm. automatic at Lopez when he fell to the ground, said Peter Brill, the cop's lawyer.
A man, possibly a cousin, dragged Robinson - and the gun - into 1309 Clinton Ave. and fled, Brill said. Police were looking for the weapon.
Cops caught Robinson, of Manhattan, in his grandparents' fourth-floor apartment. "He came to the door and said he was shot. And the next thing I know the cops are here," Robinson's grandfather said.
Robinson, who was in stable condition at Lincoln Hospital last night, was hit with several charges, including three attempted-murder counts.
Sources said cops were investigating whether Robinson had ties to local drug dealers. Neighbors said Robinson was always hanging out on the streetcorner.
He had several sealed arrests, including drug, weapons and domestic-violence charges, sources said. Asked if his grandson was a good kid, the grandfather said, "I can't give you that information."
Rivera said she had no idea she was dating a cop. Lopez called her apartment about 12:10 a.m. yesterday, and she said she'd be right down.
The next thing Rivera heard was gunfire. She looked out the window and saw Lopez surrounded by uniformed police officers. "As the cops rolled up to him, he said 'Wait! Wait! I'm a cop!' " Rivera said.
Rivera was holding hands with Lopez when officers brought Robinson out in cuffs. Robinson glared at her.
"Pedro was grabbing my hand. Pedro said, 'That's him! He's the one shooting!' " she said. Rivera fears she and her family will have to move. "I'm nervous. I'm freaked out. Now they'll think I set everything up," Rivera said.
